Re: Toyota Celica GT-Four Monte Carlo'93 – full-open (ModellingMaster/Tamiya)

Phil, it's not late to fix this issue with fuel tank :-) But I almost broke my neck trying to find on Facebook photo you described... Could you please share a link to a post with this fuel tank operation? Thanks!

Btw, here are working hinges for doors and bootlid:

Thanks Phil!

I've took a saw in my hands and started cutting here and there:

Waiting till the glue stones and will continue fuel tank business. The floor will be also leveled with epoxy.

Continuing Celica plastic surgery – made a sketch of authentic door cards:

Now need to precisely cut plastic and make from it the door card's details.

Btw, the fuel tank is done in large – need to add detailing and remove some scratches from it.

Re: Toyota Celica GT-Four Monte Carlo'93 – full-open (ModellingMaster/Tamiya)

Naray, thanks for your kind words!

Making hinges is simple as 1-2-3 :-) All you need is paper clip, pliers, plastic rod and some epoxy putty.
With experience the process will take about 5-10 minutes.

First, I drill through hole in plastic rod – I attach this rod to the doors as it works like rotation axis. You may see the rods attached to doors on picture in my previous post.

Then I take paper clip and bend it with pliers in 4 points, if i'm not mistaken. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of bended paper clip, but you can catch the idea in my previous posts with pictures of door sills.

Then I check how the hinge works with door – put the hinge into the drilled rod. And after that I put the door with hinge into the door sill and fix it with masking tape. From the inside part of front fender in place where the hinge is located I put epoxy putty to fix it there permamently. In several hours I have working opening and detachable doors.

Sorry if this instruction is quite vague, but if you have any questions - feel free to ask!
By the way, i've read a lot of instructions for door hinges in magazines and forums, and they were pretty difficult in my opinion. This way of making hinges is easier I suppose.

Re: Toyota Celica GT-Four Monte Carlo'93 – full-open (ModellingMaster/Tamiya)

I've decided to build this model in agile mode – fast and precise, so every day I plan to have some work with model.

Today i've finished with fuel tank and door interiors:

I think that they are ready for a primer coat.

Rick, If nobody didn't it's simply because many of the pics visible there are pure fantasy from rebuilt cars totally inacurate or also some references are false !!

just take a look at the 205T16 pics, mix of evo1, street or privateer one (linked as evo1), fantasy rebuilt evo2...

same for example for Maxi 5 turbo, which is in fact a 5 turbo with a maxi body...

these references can really be misleading if you expect accuracy and it's not so good modeling references IMHO.

Thanks for the heads-up Phil, didn't realise they weren't 100% accurate. Keep up the good work anyway and I'll continue to watch your progress.

You're welcome.
just want to add that if you can sort out what is original pics and what is not, the ones appearing accurate to original event cars are great reference though !
