OK, I accaept your challenge, your vette against my RX-7 or NSX, Mt Hamilton Road east of San Jose. round trip to the top and back, 38 miles. I'll lose you in the first 5 turns if you don't lose yourself off the side of the big hill trying to stay with me in the turns with that heavy hog vette. The RX-8 cranks 250 HP out of a tiny 1.3 liter motor, making the car substantially lighter, btw 1.3 liter is about the size of an older vette window motor. Ditto for the NSX, with it's small v6.

I'll just let you know when I get the car, this could take a few years.

Same here, I'll let you know when I get my Vette which will definitely take a few years. I guess you didn't read how well the Vette handled that race track, I believe the roadholding G's was at least 1.02 G's, I believe I can take you.
But be patient speedy, wait til we get the cars first, haha

yeah you're crazy.
the vette does the 1/4 mile 1 second slower than the new srt-10 viper and .5 sec slower 0-60

Race tracks are for wimps, I'm talking about a twisty mountain road with radical switchback hairpins. How many lateral G's you can pull at the track means little on real life uneven pavement, where a more sophisticated suspension comes into play-do the vettes still have leaf springs in the back?
The new vettes are cuter than the NSX for sure, esp. the black ragtop, my favorite vette.
Anyway, our wager is probably not in the near future but always a good idea to have a contigency plan in case you experience sudden wealth--it could happen!

The max i have is my first car (I'm 18) my dad bought it for me. I remember looking at it and the first thing I thought of was: Damn that car looks awesome! And then when I looked at the beauty that is the VG30E I was like damn that is huge! My father previously owned a 1990 300zx manual transmission. That car flew like no one's business
anyways, I'm glad that my dad got me my max because all I can do is think of what upgrades I can do to the car.
Question: there is a girl at my old high school that owns a 01 eclipse gs
can a 3rd generation beat that?
I hope it can so I can wipe her boasting all over the floor and give her a pair of these:finger: when I'm done winning.

if you had an se i would say yes cuz i'm pretty sure they have 190 hp and 180-sumthin torque. the gxe has 160 hp. my dad has a 93 gxe he's always droolin over my 95 se.
my friend has a 90 300zx. when we raced i took him by 1/2 a car. then he got his S/C. i still think he shoulda got a turbo.

well of course, turbos rule!
as i recall the se have 190 pounds of torque. that's what i read when i searched for it in consumer guide.
so a stock 93 gxe can't beat a 01 eclipse gs? don't they have 4 cylinders?

i'm not too familiar with mitsubishi. i think they're pretty shitty cars in general. with exception for the 3000gt VR4 and evo VII and VIII coming out.
If it's the new body style, i know it has a 200 hp v6 offered. i'm not aware of any 4 bangers. if it's a 4 then you should bet money and smoke it.
are you 5 speed? cuz that'll make a world of difference

Sadly no, I have an automatic.
I wish I was a 5 speed but people tell me it's too much hassle and loads of cash to spend if you do change it. It would be better just getting it standard right off the bat.
but hey what can I do? so far my first upgrade to my car would be the intake.

I'm on my 2nd Max now (Had a 2000 SE auto) and always wanted the new 3.5 motor with 6-speed. I know the 5th gen have issues with paint and so fourth but I wanted a new car and didn't like the TL/CL Type-S cars and wanted something with alot of room and thats why I bought my current Max.

I know what you mean about the paint thing, my front bumper has more chips than a bag of lays.

As for the original thread topic, I decided on the maxima because it was the most car for the money at the time I was in the market, which was near the end of 1999. I still wouldn't trade it for anything, I absolutely love every aspect of the car (except the paint). the mods I have done so far are listed below. I have plans for a y-pipe and a high-flow cat when I start my new job. I'm probably gonna keep the exterior flashy stuff to a minimum, might get clear corner lamps someday.
