This one was completed for a Scale Auto review. It's a re-issue of the same kit offered a few years back. Kit is very well engineered and fell together perfectly. Would have used much better rims and tires but couldn't because of the review. Other than that, it truly was a fun build!

not really a fan of the car but that looks like a really nicely detailed kit; the engine and suspension looks really good and ripe for fine detailing.

Can you describe your wash technique in some detail?

The shots of the engine and undercarriage just look fantastic in terms of the way the wash blends beautifully with the base color but yet clearly brings out the depth of the parts. I'm always trying to achieve this, but I don't think I really have yet.

Can you clue me in on how it's done?

The wash detail is a blend of two techniques or methods. I like to use the Citadel brand of washes or, what they call now, shades. These come in different colors. Once you paint the part, apply the wash liberally. The wash will ultimately reside in the deep sections and areas of the part. Once dry, I like to use a product called Rub N Buff. It's a pastelike product which comes in various colors like silver, antique gold, etc. etc. Rub a bit of it off on the palm of your hand and rub it around the parts using the tip of your index finger as you use the palm of your hand as a palette. This is a "dry-brush" method that will highlight the outer or high spots of the part. Go easy on the Rub N Buff, it goes a long way. I do the same thing for the chassis and other areas also.

I'm working on this exact kit as well,the weathering on the engine and chassis is amazing!!

Does it leave any kind of residue on the part? Does it produce a glossy finish that must then be dullcoted afterwards?
