How to replace the front rotors and pads
Replaced the front rotors and pads today... Pretty easy to do. Here's the steps in pictures.
Loosen the lug nuts a touch before you jack the van. ![]() Jack the van up and then put it on a stand. ![]() Finish removing the tire. And then turn your steering to give you more room to work with. ![]() Two bolts hold the caliper on the van. Loosen those off and do not remove them yet. (Bottom bolt) ![]() (Top bolt) ![]() Once loose prep to hang the caliper from string, or wire, or what I used... Zip ties. Don't let it hang from the brake line! Once you have the caliper off remove the rotor and pads as well. ![]() Now you have to compress the calipers. I don't own a "C-clamp" or a caliper tool. Instead I remounted the caliper and used a small pry bar to compress the calipers all the way open. ![]() Where I pried. ![]() Once that's done grab the new pads and insert them. Also install the rotor. I used a lug nut to hold the rotor in place. ![]() Reinstall the caliper ![]() Then reinstall the tire. ![]() Now test drive in your driveway to make sure the brakes are functioning before you head out on the road
