81 Buick Skylark

I have a 81 Buick Skylark with 2.8 v-6 engine auto transmission, it gets 39.8 MPG on highway with 10% ethanol fuel I was thinking of adding hydrogen and oxygen to the carb only small amount wonder if it will boost gas mileage?

You are kidding here right, 40 mpg, not possible unless downhill with a tailwind, the rest, connected with the original mpg claim, doesn't warrant an answer. Sorry that's the way I see it.

Re: 81 Buick Skylark

Should mention I only drove 45 MPH and it is flat terrain on the interstate, I also made a lot of changes since it left the factory.

Re: 81 Buick Skylark

What did you do to it to increase MPG that much?

Re: 81 Buick Skylark

I had most of the car apart so I made a lot of changes along the way such as mufler has hole cut on inside pipe, catalytic converter is straight thru, prom is not factory no more, air spins into carburetor, egr is closed causing higher temperature, moly grease on everything and tires are bigger.

Re: 81 Buick Skylark

hydrogen and oxygen added to carb sounds like a nice way to start a fire or a explosion

Re: 81 Buick Skylark

So basically, you created a car that has terrible emissions and is much louder than stock to save a few bucks on gas. Great.

In an effort not to be a total dick, here's some links that might answer your question:

Not as long as you do not get a spark in your generating container.
