96 5.7 fuel regulator and injector upgrade question
Pulling apart my suburban to put the new style spider in an noticed theres no hose on the nipple of the old regulator, do these old systems just dump fuel into the crankcase? the top of the lower intake was shiny like new directly under where the nipple was pointed. I had the symptoms of a bad regulator but with over 200k just decided to do it all while I was in there. I dont want to put it back together if theres supposed to be a hose somewhere that goes on the regulator.

question I have to you is how is it that you took this apart and now you ask where do the hoses/lines go ? a fuel regulator that I am familiar with bolts on the the fuel rail. that is the output to injectors, next is the fuel line feed from pump, and then you have the return line that returns any over/excess fuel back to the fuel tank.. |

Re: 96 5.7 fuel regulator and injector upgrade question
On these engines, the plenum covers the spider assembly/fuel pressure regulator.....there is a vacuum inside the plenum, so there is no need to run a hose to a vac source......the entire top of the lower intake should be blackened/dirty.......if there is a clean spot under the nipple of the f/p reg, it was probably leaking.....

I guess while your taking something apart you have never noticed that something "may" be missing. |

my comments about the dis assembly and your questions on how to put back what you just worked is still quite surprising. at least you figured it out and got it running . if a connection did fall off there is only one place it can go unless someone put hoses on components in the wrong places. good luck . |
