catback vs muffler

What is the approx. hp gain difference for a new muffler vs. a catback? Seems liek an extra $100 for 1 hp...

but with catback, it is bolt on, right? And just muffler is gonna be weld on, right? That is a no-no for a car under factory warranty? Ugh, I'm taking my car to the dealer for some bumper work tomorrow (it was like that when i bought the car...i'm not retarded). I changed my cold air intake to a short ram so they don't bitch about water getting into the system and stuff. I got a question about that too. I'll make a new post.

Yes catback is a bolt on system and yes it is worth going with that rather then just getting it welded on. Some cars react different to the ctback so you might get more power then whats specified buy the company.

Oh ya I was gonna mention you could go with axle back which is usually cheaper.

Okay, this may be a dumb question but I'm still learning. What exactly is the difference between a cat back and an axle back setup? Is it just the mid pipe that connects to the catalytic convertor that's missing? Would I have to use the factory mid pipe with an axle back setup? Will the horsepower gain be that much different or negligible? I'm asking because I'm trying to decide between an Arospeed cat back or a Powertech axle back setup for my Accord. I already purchased a hi-flow catalytic convertor and I'm looking at adding a Kamikaze header as well. Airmass was my other option for the header but I couldn't find any reviews on the darn thing.

if you already have a high-flow cat, and you're gonna get headers, then just get the complete catback system. you'll have a more complete breathing system with a lot better sound than with just a muffler or axle back system

well, u've basically got it. the cat-back does exactly wut it sounds. it goes all the way to ur catalytic converter. the axel-back, only goes from the axel-back. for a header, i kno that dc sports makes a nice header for any car. basically, if ur looking for gains from a i/h/e set-up, then get a new high-flow catalytic converter, and a new throttle body. thats the only way u'll see gains u'll feel. jus my .02 tho..
