Equanox Power Bar??? No Battery???

My son's friend tried to jumpstart my son's car with his Chevy Equinox. When he was connecting the positive cable to the positive connection by the fuse box, it slipped out of his hand and fell toward the computer and arced on the computer. Now, the starting solenoid in the fuse box does not click on, like it is not getting power. The lights power on, everything else seems to power up, but it will not even attempt to start. It acts like when the neutral safety switch malfunctions. He pushed it to the dealer, not far away, and they said, when it was owned by the rental agency, which he bought it from, they replaced the battery with a Power Bar. They say there is no battery. They said the Power Bar is completely fried. Yet, the lights and everything else have power. Just not to the starter. Maybe not the ignition system, not sure, since it doesn't crank. If this so called "Power Bar" was completely fried, I wouldn't think it would have any power. I can not find anything about a Power Bar replacing the battery anywhere online either. They want $1500 to fix it. Does this sound right? I have never hear of this "Power Bar" that replaces the battery. And if it's completely fried, why is there still power for everything else?
Thank you

P.S. I checked all the fuses. They are all good.

Re: Equanox Power Bar??? No Battery???

It's at the dealership now, I told my son to get a hold of his friend so I can go there with him and see just what they are talking about. Now that I know where the batter is suppose to be, I can check on that. Wonder if it's just the dealership givin a BS story to make more money? IDK
That's why I needed to check here if anyone knows anything about it. I can not find anything about a Power Bar as a battery replacement online. They said the car rental place switched to that setup. But $1500 just sounds a bit crazy.

Equinox does have fuseable links these frequently blow when using jumper cables.
These are plug in links in the power control center. I've noticed some on ebay they run about $8.00 to ten dollars.

Re: Equanox Power Bar??? No Battery???

Well, his friend just traded it in for another car. They saw him coming and got what they wanted. I'm sure they took off what the cost repairs was suppose to be for the trade in. $1500. Probably only a $5 repair.
