2009 ford escape headlamp switch

I recently purchased a 2009 ford escape xls. It has a 2.5 liter duratec. I heard very good things about the ford escapes and the 2.5 heard they are good on gas and dependable. Would you all say the same? Just curious. This is the first time I've ever bought anything other than gm. I'm impressed by the power of the motor and like the car overall. The only complaint I have is it doesn't have automatic headlights???? You actually have to go to the old days and turn them off and on, lol. I know it's because it's the xls model. It doesn't bother me but it's not my car, it's the wife's. It has the eye for the headlights by the windshield. My question is if I buy the auto headlamp switch and switch them will the auto work? I'm just not sure if it would. Don't really know a lot about them. Guess I will learn. Thank in advance everyone.
