McLaren MP 4/13

Hi guys,

I started McLaren MP 4/13 a week or two ago but due to lots of other commitments, I was unable to make this kit till I have the time to make this kit. This is the first time I'm making a F1 test machine despite making lots of MotoGP bikes but still I haven't thought of making a MotoGP test bike.

Anyway, what makes me want to make this kit is I started to attempt making this kit years ago (couldn't remember which year was it) & this is what me made stop attempting this kit. The side parts comes off easily despite I used the cement & I placed the decal patch on them. When I tried to test fit the rear cowl on the undertray, the side just come off like that like as though the cement is not strong at all thus damaged the decal patch & rainbowten website has stopped doing business worldwide as they only focus on local business. I was so mad when that happened.

Thus, I had a thought of redeeming myself by making the same kit but this time it's a test machine (not sure if it's pre season or test machine as I'm not versed with F1 compare to MotoGP). I wouldn't want to bore you guys with build by build, thus I will show the completed engine attached with the undertray.

I would like to ask from you guys, do I need to take off the parts circled? Cause I saw various websites showing the circled part is removed somehow. Please advice. Thanks

I will continue the work on the next day.

Adrian

The circled part is actually the camera mount, you should take it off for the test version.

Hi guys,

Thanks, freakray. I did what you told me to do.

It's been a long time since I posted my work. Anyway, here are my latest progress.

Took me some time to put that up.

I will continue my work by then.

Re: McLaren MP 4/13

Hi guys,

Here are the photos of the completed kit in different angle.

The sticker set I used is Tabu Design. The size for the parts are accurate but the diagram placement is a little unclear especially placing the West logos on the car as they do not put the logo on the diagram placement. Overall it's still right though.

I primed the parts white first before I sprayed the orange parts with TS-12.

My next project will be Honda NSR 500 98. It's been some time since I last made a bike.

Re: McLaren MP 4/13

Hi,
The model looks nice but the monocoque and sidepods have visible joint lines, which should be hidden with some putty and sanding.
Have you clearcoated after decaling?

Cheers,
