Re: Toyota Celica ST165 Rally

Hello Luis!

First I made a model of that bottle from aluminium. Then I warmed up some thin clear plastic above an candle until the plastic was very soft. Such a plastic can be found from packages (for example packages of diecast model cars ). Next I just stretched the softened plastic on the aluminium model. I made two of these, so I was able to make the bottom of the bottle from the another piece. Added coloured epoxy glue inside, and bottom was glued same time to it's place.

That's it, photos would tell better but unfortunately got no photos about that procedure.

This is a kind of laborous way, probably would make such a bottle from clear resin next time.

Re: Toyota Celica ST165 Rally

Hey hey, I've just ordered mine !!
Yes I agree transkit for Aoshima model would be better than transkit for tamiya road car base.
Do you think you could make also a transkit to build 91 Monte's winner starting from Aoshima model ? would be cool...

Re: Toyota Celica ST165 Rally

I suspect every third party company interested in making a TK for this car has the 1991 Monte winning car in sight (Renaissance http://renaissance-models.com/nouveautes.htm, S27, MM and maybe Reji)

Could be a waste of time and money if you all release the same version

Of course official versions are a must have but don't forget Mister Sainz's first victories and title in 1990 Maybe one TK could contain several races...?

Re: Toyota Celica ST165 Rally

I can say that REJI MODEL has prepared only two versions of this kit: 1989 El Corte Inglés winner / Sainz and 1992 Sweden / Jonsson + Alen.

Good choice!! Why don't you put the Valeo rally version
In the same TK than the Corte Inglés? The only differences are the rallye plates and the numbers of that rally. I have pictures if you want because I wes seing that rally!!

Re: Toyota Celica ST165 Rally

Great to see another retro rally car released. However, the version released is for a gravel event, but the tyres look like low profile versions and the rims are too big in diameter. I haven't seen one in the flesh yet but this is from pictures of the completed model only.

"slow" I don't know, maybe, but my main priority was Roman's Nissan 240RS so I didn't pay too much attention to Aoshima Celica release and missed it.
Not a problem as I ordered it in black friday sales condition !!
I also ordered th PE set but not the Marlboro decals, who is releasing it ? Aoshima too ? haven't seen it in listing...

I did order two before the sale but added two more during it.

Would love the Datto but have a few other things on the boil.

You also have a pm.

A transkit for the Aoshima Celica would be awesome! With tarmac specifications, detailed interior and engine.

And what about a 1991 Tour de Corse version? First and only time Sainz won there. This would be very cool.

Thanks and keep up the nice work.

I agree with you, as MC version has and will again be done, or maybe corsica & MonteCarlo on same decal sheet ?
