LOL, yeah just noticed that, I keep writing it wrong everytime! The folder I kept the photos in was 325i, the decals are 318i & i think i named the photobucket folder 330i... damn BMW & there confusing Models

I found out the car is actually a 320i. Ive designed up a chrome badge to cut for the back, & hopefully the title will have changed if my edit works.
( & will go & change all the folders to the correct number)

Nope I lost mine along time ago!

Heres a pic of the rear trailing arms for GTRfan.
Very crud & basic, but the kit chassis doesnt give you anything to work with & it is the underside of the model...

Still needs a bit of work before its finished & I can attach the rear wheels etc

Re: BMW E30 320i Racer

Hey Guys

Finally the body is finished being painted!!! Chrome went on over the weekend for all the chrome trim.

Everything is starting to come together

The Completed roll cage - the padding for this has taken me ages to solve, Ive tried fabric, felt, electrical tape etc. Then I found some vehicle double sided tape laying around the office & thought it would be perfect except that it was double sided adhesive, so I grabbed a piece of matt laminate film & stuck this to the Double sided tape & Viola! It looked perfect, even the texture! So this was wraped around the roll bars & tied with thread to simulate zip ties. very happy with how this part came out!!!

& Finally thanks to the internet & my investigative skills (aka Facebook & Forum Stalking...) I found the owner of this vehicle had used Red needles for the gauges. Below is the Kit decal with the white gauges & below that is my attempt at red needles. For me its sometime the small personalized touches that really make a model.

Hopefully next week I'll have another update that includes a 90% finished model...

Re: BMW E30 315i Racer

Hey Guys

Update time!

Completed Dash

Again my Facebook Stalking skills revealed that the owner painted the rear indicator lights red. So completed Lights with reverse lights etc

Completed Front grill

Seat Fitted (had to subquintly remove the seat to fit the seat belts to roll cage.

The kit "glass" was very foggy & not overly clear. So with the decals they took a dip in some "future floor polish" & have come up nice & clear & protect the decals too!

Pic for the owner

Interior painted white

Some toe hooks for the front & mesh for the grills

Roll cage attached

& the Numberplates

Its all coming together nicely & should have it sitting on her wheels tonight or tomorrow!

Ash, I have used the rubber shrink tubing available in computer shops. They use it to bundle the wiring. You can use a very sharp scalpel to slice the tube so it will go around the bars just like you do in a car.

Re: BMW E30 315i Racer

Final update - 91% complete

Stance - Had to play around with this a bit. The front just kept sinking so had to add some packers to raise it up & the steering didnt work very well & looked somewhat un-natural so I had to glue the wheels straight...

Will hopefully be handing it over this weekend, just a few little things to add, lights, exhaust etc
Cheers for watching, will post a completed photo after the new owner recieves it

Very nice job and looking far better than the box art! What is going on with that illustration...both the front and back wheels are pointing left!!!
