computer flashes "12" 16 times ...
After that I felt I could reasonably assume it would continue that trend until the battery died.
Does that mean there are no troubles as far as the computer is concerned? |

Yes. 12 is the code for no codes.

Re: computer flashes "12" 16 times ...
Thanks kindly manster.
My crazy friend managed to get my car running for a few seconds. Some weird contraption that utilizes visual effects foggers from China to spray gas in the intake (vis pvc port). Ran soooo nice. Then died again. Needless to say cylinders aren't getting gasoline. Got to hunker down and study my dirty old Haynes manual a bit and figure out why. |

So the car won't start, but runs with little "help" when fuel is sprayed into it? First thing I would check is the fuel pressure. I don't know what year or engine you have, so you'll need to look up the fuel pressure specs.

1992 3.1 mpfi
I've posted more then 1 thread on this problem. Car was bucking while accelerating above 50mph a few months back. Worsened somewhat (lower speeds) say 4 weeks ago. Changed fuel filter 2 weeks ago. Car performed horribly later that evening. Would run fine after 10 minutes of driving on the parkway. Still had hesitation type problems, even at lower speeds on short runs. Was also having crap Walmart battery problems. Friend jumped me one day. I left it running for 5 minutes, then it just died. It seems I've tentatively rules out issues with the ECM. I think I've tentatively ruled out fuel pump, it comes on (audibly). I put the tip of a razor blade in the Shrader valve, friend turned the key, and my uim got a bath, as well as my hand. I realize the pump could still be missing a few psi, but I can't buy a pressure tester. Autozone over here is a pain to deal with. I may get a loaner from them yet. I'd like to test if there are pulses going to the injectors. Haven't found the harness yet, Haynes is terrible on the fi section. I'm told I could use a bulb. At least at that point I could totally rule out a flaky ecm problem. If I actually test pressure at the Shrader valve, and the ecm is okay, all that seems to be left is the injectors themselves. Even just for curiosities sake, I'd like to get as much info on the computer I can. Definition of pins on the connectors, schematic, photo of the board, etc. |
