!999 V6 starts hard when hot, to much gas ??

My high mileage V6 1999 Sierra starts fine and runs great in the morning or when it is cold. As soon a you try to restart hot is spins fast enough, but has a very hard time starting. When it does start, there is smoke from the gas and the engine idals very high for about 10 minutes before settling down. Same thing reoccurs over and over when the engine is hot. May idal up to 2500 rpm, cant kick it off. Any ideas
Thanks in advance Deano

Do a full scan look at the coolant temp readings, also check fuel pressure when this occurs.

Thanks, tried that and OK, had a friend that said there was a fuel sensor someplace that is not telling the engine to open the choke when the engine is hot, that sound right ?

Thanks

What choke the is Vortec Injection, there is no such thing as this fuel sensor, other than a coolant temp sensor that enriches the engine when cold, if it is bad it will run rich all the time.
