Re: Recap of the North American F1 fleet

Anyone notice the tires on 028? They appear to be Pirelli P Zeroes in not-quite-the-right-size.

Had not noticed, but you're certainly right. I wonder who did that...?

Re: Recap of the North American F1 fleet

Probably not the right reason for the change but a possible one is that certain tyre sizes go out of fashion and cease to be manufactured. I believe though not 100% certain that this is the case with certain tyres used by various versions of the F1 and that they are no longer generally available unless supplied through McLaren themselves. So possibly the owner decided to source his tyres locally and had to accept the nearest size available. Strange but not impossible.

Re: Recap of the North American F1 fleet

That's what at least 1 other owner has done - sourced alternate tyres [that fit the Enzo] from elsewhere and had new wheels manufactured, still in the same style of the F1 road car, to have the ability to source tyres easier [and possibly cheaper] especially if the car is abroad

Re: Recap of the North American F1 fleet

And that example is very well documented, I also think that the lower profile will also have been a factor in the decision.

Its storage facility has an expansion under construction right now, I wondered if they had to move the cars around. Any context to this? A chance I might see it before it's spirited away again?

Re: Recap of the North American F1 fleet

Hey Erik — been a while! I'll be at Monterey this weekend and I should be attending everything this time. Looking forward to meeting you, hopefully, and I'll be on the lookout to see if you have any Monterey F1 announcements to make.

Re: Recap of the North American F1 fleet

I hope you aren't there "this weekend" as you won't see very much.

Anyway, I expect there to be some news very shortly - maybe as early as this week? We will definitely have to try and meet up somewhere along the way.

Haha, of course! That weekend, not this weekend. Anyway, I've been really enjoying your Instagram activity, it's a great outlet to reach different people with amazing McLaren info and pics!

Scary stuff, in my opinion. But awesome, nonetheless.

Re: Recap of the North American F1 fleet

Chassis 022 appears to be in for service in NJ:

Henry probably knew that already.
