Exhaust Manifold Removal
I have the dreaded broken manifold studs. I am replacing the manifolds with JBA headers. I have the passenger side done, however, I can't seem to even see the bottom front 2 studs on the driver's side. I would like to raise the engine on the driver's side, however, the engine mount is different then the passenger side. Has anyone done this? Any suggestions?
Thanks. |

Re: Exhaust Manifold Removal
I did my drivers side, because of a blown gasket.
Those studs on the lower portion towards the rear of the vehicle were almost completely rusted away. Seems like the drivers side rusts more than the passenger side, no doubt from salting more towards the middle of the road. Anyways, I removed the plastic lining in the wheel well and was able to get a right angle pneumatic drill in there to drill out and tap a new stud. I could not get any other tool to fit in that space, but the right angle pneumatic fit just right. Not an easy job, but you can do it without raising the engine. |
