Pittsburgh and parts...

Okay, a couple questions:
1) Is there anyone else in this forum from Pittsburgh, PA? Pittsburg, KS is no good, and neither is Pittsfield, OH. Even if someone is from OH or WV, (and here comes question 2)...

2) Where can I find parts for my G? Everyone acts like they've never even heard of Infiniti, let alone the G20!!! I want to find cupholders and a few other similar types of things (which leads into, you guessed it, Q #3)...

3) Are there any other Nissan models (Altima, Maxima, etc) that share any sorts of parts with Infiniti (just for reference, I have a 93-firstbody-G20)

Thanx everyone!

good luck finding cupholders. they don't make them for our cars. you can get cupholders from i think a maxima or altima, but rumor has it that they're no good. best bet is to put the cup between your legs or have your shotgun rider hold your drink.

There are actually a couple different aftermarket/custom options that I sorta remember hearing about. I have heard of a maxima cup holder going into the cubbyhole. I also remember something of a VW one going on the center console, almost right next to the shifter, but down on the passenger side? I'd recommend searching the SE-R mailing list archives, there is quite a bit of info there. SE-R list archives Hope this helps.

Good start

Well, that gets me off to a good start on my search of something besides my knees as a cupholder...

Maybe I really am just this dumb, but anyone else have a hell of a time trying to get the gearshift knob off?!? Mine won't turn or anything, and the thing needs to be changed... it's all worn-down looking.

Thanx again!

Yeah, i've seen some cars where it's practially welded on, or at least seems as though it is. Others just took a little effort, but once you get em started it really easy. If you are having trouble, and the shifter is still in the car, possibly try a big wrench, wrap a cloth around the knob (to not damage it) and then just twist (still be careful as to not damage the shifter assembly though).
If you can get the shifter out of the car, or have it out already it is MUCH easier (it's just a PITA to remove the shifter). You just stick the knob in a vise and twist :-) Hope this helps. there is also some good info on this in the se-r list archives as well, the se-r's have the same shifter (along with teh same problems) so there is a lot of good techniques as to removing the shift knob there too. Hope this helps.

Cool, I'll just have to get some big, strong man to twist it off for me since I'm too much of a weakling!

Next question (and yes, this CAN become a game of 20 questions)...
I'm looking for a wing for the back of my G... I can't find any that are specifically made for it (duh) but would one from say an Altima or even 200SX, whose rear "organization" appears to be quite similar, fit? If you can dish out some answers on this, then I'll slam ya with my next (still unanswered thread) about where/what my G's paint code is...

Thanx so much for everything so far!

Oh yeah

I found a G20 on my way home from class today with the same color, and very similar body (the other's body may be newer). If this is you, please send me a post or PM or something!!!! It was spotted on Lebanon Church Road turning left off 885 and then turning at the next light right onto the other side of 885 at about 2:00 this afternoon!!!!!

To find your paint code check your VIN plate on the firewall in the engine compartment. It should be the third row down on the left, the code on the right is the trim color code. Unfortunately my FSM doesn't list the color codes (or i couldn't find it with a quick search), i am pretty sure QNO is pearl white, but I'm not sure of the rest. I think they may be listed somewhere on SE-R.net? Oh yeah, if anyone wants to know how to decipher (sp?) their vin let me know, i could give the codes if you really want to know. But i think i'd start a new thread for that one.
