You can get a free diagnostic scan from most chain type auto parts stores.

Re: Speedometer issues 06 Ram 3500 4wd Diesal

Thanks but I do have a code scanner it gives me 0500 (speed sensor) so I changed both but still the same issue. I am wondering if it is the PCM since this all happened at once when the trailer I was pulling had a frame break and shorted out the system, I did change the fuses but no luck. Is there a hidden in line fuse that I haven't found? I don't know of any way to check the PCM directly but it is a very expensive part to just swap out and be wrong.. thanks again in advance.

Do the brake lights work?
Does the Cruise Control work?
Have you checked the Rear Wheel Speed Sensor on the differential housing?

A quick update and a special shout out to Chris Stewart and corvett69! These chaps lead me in the right direction. So it turned out that when I lost my trailer brakes I used the "SPARE" fuse to regain my braked, well well well..... it apparently aint no spare it was the problem all along!! and to think my next step was gonna be to drop 6 bills on a PCM.. WHEW thanks again chris stewart and corvett69
