Are any brand front CV shafts better or worse than others?

2002 Chevy Z71 1500 5.3 - 128,000 miles

Have determind I have a bad Front CV shaft. I will be replacing it soon.

With all the different brands of new and/or remanufacured shafts out there, is there any brands that are known to be weak and nothing more than scrap?

Or, on the other hand are there any brands that are known to be stronger and more reliable?

PS - I'll also be replacing both front wheel bearings because I've had my ABS fuse pulled for the past 6 years because of the notorious ABS problems. I will probably go with the MOOG brand because of the longer warranty at a decent price.

Thanks for the info, Brian

I dont know which brand is better than the other, but I do know to NOT buy universal. They just dont fit exactly right. I even had one slip right off the input shaft while I was driving. Also, if you want new snap rings, it is a good time to replace the seals on your inputshafts, at the transmission. Many times the 30 something dollar seal, which is how much it costs usually, includes snap rings with it. My 2 cents.

Moog is a good brand.

Just remember you usually get what you pay for.

I recently replaced both front wheel bearings and front CV axles. I used Timken front hub assembly and Cv axles from Napa. So far I have had no problems what so ever.

Sorry I should have mentioned it's a 2000 1500 Z71, 235,000 miles.
