Ford AOD tool T80L-77003-A (gauge bar) thickness?

I am building a AOD Ford Transmission. Does anyone happen to know the thickness of the ( FORD, END-PLAY CHECKING TOOL ) part # T80L-77003-A . It appears that Ford included the thickness of the tool in the depth specifications. Without this information, it is next to impossible to set up the end clearance for the intermediate clutch and the clutch drum.

You are talking about a tool to reach down into the tranny to lift on the c;utches/frictions to check clearances correct? If so I've always use a metal coat hanger.

Guage bar

The tool is used as a straight edge and is set across the pump case mounting surface. You measure the distance down to the intermediate clutch plates and to the reverse clutch drum thrust face in order to select the selective steel (for the intermediate) and selective thrust washer (for endplay). Individual clutch packs can be measured with a feeler guage , The Ford tool is a square bar with the holes in it to use a depth micrometer.

I found out today , The tool is .700 " thick . Anyone can take the measurements now , even if you dont have the tool. Just take the ford spec and subtract .700 ". This will put your measurement to the pump mounting surface directly. You could use a straightedge then or whatever you have that is straight (make sure you measure to the bottom of whatever you use) The specs ford gives is to the top of the guage bar .700" above the pump mounting surface (thickness of the bar)
