Bringing this one back from the dead big time, but...
You said you have the stage 5 motor from LCengineering. Thats a lot of money you spent! Should have gone turbo!!! And make 2x the power you are now! ![]() Im debating to go 22RTE or 7M-GTE. 22RTE - Keep with the 4cyl and make some high power. And to show up a couple people who say a 22RTE cant make more than 220hp. 7M-GTE - Make my truck that much more Supra. And pump it up and go play with the supra boys. Just be worth pulling up to a supra on the freeway and sticking door to door with him!

Re: Racing your 22R
Damn, never thought anyone was racing 22re... Sweet
My other car is a S2000, not much incentive to race my little truck, no I love that truck just the way it is, wicked reliable. Nate |

I dont see many people racing 22Rs. Its expensive, to some people...like buying from LCENGINEERING, you might as well bent over and let em do you in the butt.
Build it yourself, tune it yourself, race it yoruself. Now to spend tomorrow slipping my new motor in my truck. |

Re: Racing your 22R
hey hafa adai man, we met at the import shoot out. i was out there checking out the 22r's you guys got out there. because im building a 22r from lc too. i have two trucks one street(daily) and one drag truck
my daily driver has 350 cfm holley 2bbl holley fuel pump and regulator accel super coil & taylor wires heddman headers lc pro head package(ported & polish, bench flowed, titanium valve train, aluminum rockers(bought separate)lc stage 4 cam shaft 310 duration 440 lift lc street perfomer crank shaft with clevite 77 bearings lc cap and rotor center force clutch and pressure plate this truck run rough at idle because of the big cam but it is good for that traffic light to traffic light run. if you don't believe me the lc heads have an a.m.c marking on the intake side of the dead between cylinder 3 & 4 drag truck 94 mm pro block (shot peened) je 94 mm pro pistons 10.5.1 knotched to take the outlaw cams lift total seal gapless rings set lc knife edged crank im still building this motor i need an lc stage 5 head lc header stage 5 or outlaw cam new ignition sytem side drafts carb 9 lbs flywheel and clutch lockers and suspension upgrade and more when im done i will probably bring out to guam after i take out jerry b. |

Re: Racing your 22R
by the way, building a 22r is really expensive , building a v8 is cheaper

Re: Racing your 22R
I race a 84 celica on a 5/16 dirt circle track . Going big with the Lc parts is the easy way to do stuff. As I have done myself. I have a 22re bored .40 over decked 25thou.KB hyper pistons. shaved 111thou head. Stainless oversized Ferrera valves.double valve springs. 484 lift can. 500 holley. Beardenweldingandfabricating high rise intake +10 hp.This all done at local machine shop. Im averaging 170hp. And i run with the 2300 and 2500 fords. I'm guessing Limiting factor is low rpm and low factory compression.i use propylene oxide with 91 octane which when mixed right gives me 12.7:1 compression. Ive seen 14+:1 mixtures. This is the saving grace to high output with stock parts.

Re: Racing your 22R
For the money I've found easier to build tall block 20r head hybrid or just using 20r engine. So many factory pistons you can use with a 20 or 22re head. one being ford 3.0. A hyperutectic set with rings will run you $140. They are flat top and with proper decking and shaving ive seen 10+:1 compression. Ford 4.6, and 5.4 pistons are comparable and slightly larger and work as a slightly larger standard 22re piston. You can sleeve a 22re and use a Oldsmobile 3.8 piston for 94mm or 80 over.
The cheapest and most effective way is using the 81-84 tall block. deck the ring off the top Off the piston til you get to the flat in the center. Belt sand does great just do not get to hot . Use a 22re or 20r head. If stock valves etc use 20r head. if bigger valves 22re works better. This along with propyleneoxide produces the 14+:1 compression I talked about. I'm also working on a roller rocker setup to get away from the lobe wear and chatter of factory. High rise intake I speak of is built from a fuel injected intake adapted on top for a carburetor. Changes the whole sound and torque dimensions as it offer better fuel mixture need for my fuel additive. Only draw back is ti use have to cut hole in hood. |
