Alfa Romeo GTAj, Tamiya + Scale Production, 1/24

Hi

this was probably the longest gap between finished models since I've joined here, but a lot to do at work, cold weather that prevented me from clear coating and building problems caused the delay...

I built the normal GTA a while ago, now I have finished the wider version. Rivet counters may skip this build as the model does not represent a real car, but was built to my personal preferences. I'm also not sure whether the engine really looks correct for this model.
The Scale Production transkit contains the fenders, seat, tires and rims, the exhaust and some small parts. I built the roll-over bar from plastic rods according to a provided sketch.

The fenders fit very well, but I stopped counting how often I had to putty and sand until the join line to the plastic was really filled without some tiny gaps; maybe I should have used a different glue. When I put the body on the rest of the car, I probably applied to much pressure, and a again a small fissure appeared, fortunately it's not visible on the photos under the clear, but it was a little frustrating, as I've never spent more effort on painting and polishing a model before this one. Maybe it's better to leave the join line as it is and imitate the fenders beeing riveted to the body, as you can see on real cars.

I used Zero Paints Rosso Alfa, Zero 1k clear, decals from the spare box. The front and rear window frames I painted with a paint marker, the side windows with Aqua Color and a fine brush and the chrome parts with Alclad chrome on Revell black enamel base.

Hope you like it.

Love your build.
One of the best red paint-jobs I ever seen. Bravo!

I love this car so much, slight wash would do it good, I know I was playing with mine for some time with washing, to bad this Tamiya kit is a bit toy like, specialy on windows, anyhow great work.

Excellent build with a super paint finish. I think I would have lowered the stance a bit for the wide arched version.
