code P0430 and P0463 on my 2001 rodeo

I'm getting a P0430 and P0463 cel code. Cel used to come on and off when the weather got warm then go off and stay off when it got colder in winter producing this code. Now it just stays on. The car doesn't seem to be misfiring and runs fairly smoothly. If it were the cat it seems the cel light would have come on and stayed on but it took 5 years for that to happen. Other possibilities have to do with the fuel sensor but I have no problem with the level gauge working and again if it were that the cel would have come on and stayed on way back 5 yrs ago when this first started happening. Any ideas are welcome. Please hurry since i need to smog this thing real soon. Thanks in advance to all who respond.

Did you mean cat sensor for P0430? I was told by an Auto Zone employee that it's probably the cat itself and not the sensor since they only last about 100K and I've got 180k on mine.

Basically this means that the oxygen sensor downstream of the catalytic converter on bank 2 is detecting that the converter is not working as efficiently as it should be Sorry for the mix up. I would do the o2 sensor first ...Usually if a cat is gone you'll get back pressure and the car will run sluggish and will drop speed when going up inclines. Gas consumption will go down also. ....I just replaced the left cat on my rodeo and it mad a BIG difference. I also noticed a difference in the "SOUND" of the motor when going into OverDrive. The engine sounded louder like I was running No Air Cleaner......

The O2 sensor is also a less expensive place to start.
Be sure and get a Denso replacement, a Denso exact fit is about $60.

Re: code P0430 and P0463 on my 2001 rodeo

Thanks to all that took the time to reply. I did replace the O2 sensor on the drivers side past the cat. I didn't get a Denso since I didn't read the post till after I replaced it. Strange thing was the cel light would not go out after I replaced the sensor even after removing the battery connections or pulling the ECM fuse. However, after driving it for a while the light went out and hasn't come back on yet. I have my fingers crossed. In any case I went and had it smogged the same day the light went out so I'm just glad it went out for whatever reason. If anyone is interested I put in a Bosh sensor since it was about $10 cheaper than the rest. Thanks again to all.

I just replaced the left cat convert and both foward sensors. I used an after market cat and two Bosch sensors and has been great.....sometimes the AM Parts are as good as the name brand. I've worked at Dealerships that actually have used AM parts in order to get the job done on time for the customer.
