Passenger side sliding won't stay closed, when its about to close it opens up .. is there a sensor that I need to check or does anyone have a break down picture that I can use to take apart so I can inspect/trouble shoot? Thanks

Re: 2002 Sil Premre Sliding Door
Try cleaning the contacts, both on the door and the pillar. A very fine emery cloth works well.

Re: 2002 Sil Premre Sliding Door
Also make sure there is no obstruction.......do you feel anything when closing the door manually with power door off? Also, do you know how to check for codes?

Re: 2002 Sil Premre Sliding Door
@ GMTECH1 - I did clean the contacts it worked 3 times .. sounds like it just fails before the latch lock the door .. @TECH II no obstructions and no codes .. manually closing does not want to lock/latch closed. its a hit and miss when it does close .. and when that happens I turn off the switch on the overhead. I sprayed lithium lube on everything .. lol Any other suggestions ? Thanks for the Replies

Re: 2002 Sil Premre Sliding Door
manually closing does not want to lock/latch closed.
So if you turn the power to the PS door off, and manually try to close the door, it won't latch and close? Sounds like a latch problem.... |

Re: 2002 Sil Premre Sliding Door
Just went through this myself. The door jamb in the back is out of position requiring too much force to latch shut. Loosen the two screws on the rear side door jamb and CAREFULLY nudge it outward a touch. The intent is to lesson the closing force needed to click that latch at the back.
I think its caused by age--maybe some rust under the door frame and things settle a bit. Loosening the closing force just a bit will fix it. |
