1997 C1500 Steering Wheel Motion Sensor

So my airbags deployed and I replaced the steering wheel but had to clip the airbag wires after having disconnected them underneath the dashboard. I think I may have the steering wheel bolt on too tight or something because the steering motion sensor that is on the tip of the steering column right before the steering wheel adapter is catching the adapter. So I would like to remove it since it serves no purpose when there isn't an airbag...I know it's replaceable if I have to for inspection so I'm not worried about what I did to the airbag. Grant told me it wasn't possible to get a custom aftermarket steering wheel on an airbag equipped vehicle but here I am with a Grant adapter and a Grant steering wheel. So my question is what do I do with this motion sensor thing as it is annoying when turning.
