03 Century draining battery overnight
2003 Buick Century draining fully charged battery overnight. Have tried almost everything and cant figure it out. The high blower is not working either and I am wondering if a short in that can cause the battery to drain? Changed fuses, alternator, searched for shorts, an so on. Cannot find location of the blower. Please help.

Re: 03 Century draining battery overnight
No high speed? Sometimes there is a low speed fuse and a high speed fuse...if fuses are ok, then more than likely it's a bad resistor block.....
Remove the hush panel on the passenger side.....look under the dash and you will find the blower motor.....follow the blower motor harness backwards and it goes right into the resistor block(the harness is part of the resistor block).....3-5.5 mm screws hold it in place, not easy to remove..... If you pick one up, just attach it to the blower motor and attach the harness from the old R block to the new one....try all your speeds.....if ok, then face the horror of replacing the old one.....I use a 1/4" extension with a universal and a 5.5 socket...... You will have to do a parasitic draw test to find the drain on the battery....do you know how to do this? You will need a test light.... |

Re: 03 Century draining battery overnight
Doesn't the high speed by-pass the resistor block? Recheck for 2 fuses. As for the new alternator, sometimes el cheapo,(ie: chi wan eese), rebuilds are only marginally rebuilt and they still have a coupla bad diodes in 'em. Point is they only machine the comutator and replace the brushes, check the regulator, shine 'em up and box 'em up for Autozone. It's my opinion that quality in the third world is the responsibility of the buyer.(How much do you want to spend). IMHO
