Re: 1997 Chevy Silverado Tranny problem
price is lower than most. 1000 is a good deal.
make sure to check the fluid condition. with old tranny rebuilds the fluid will most times start to get dark because of old loosened deposits. after a few thousand miles a pan drop filter change would be good. also use dexron VI to prevent any acid build up in the fluid. I hope they used dexronVI not the discontinued dexron III. good luck. |

Re: 1997 Chevy Silverado Tranny problem
Well when I arrived to pick up my truck, he said he still had to fill it with transmission fluid and test it. Does that mean he changed out the transmission fluid?

Quote:
new fluid is then added about 11 qts to fill on rebuild. the dexron III is not GM approved. the fluid is now dexron VI. in a hot climate with a poor cooling system dexron III with turn to acid in 10,ooomi. this is why GM no longer approves of this type fluid. |
