Full carbon GT F430
Hello AF peeps! I am posting my latest kit. After this car sat in my closet for a year, I decided to get it built. After speaking to RX7KING, we figured that a full carbon version would be cool. I wanted to use Studio27's twill weave, but I'm sure you guys know how difficult that can be. So I decided to try Hobby Design's SS Twill weave. The pattern fits the scale, unlike most most 1/24 small size decals. The problem I have with them is that they are way too thick and when soften act like rubber. It took me a while to get used to using them, so of course my work has some flaws. The decals don't blend well either. I sued Crazy Modeler's PE and other items. The wheels are from the BMW Z4 kit.
Though I am not a knowledgeable race car person, I tried to build it as close as I could to a real GT car, so pardon any omission/mistakes you might find. I truly enjoyed building this car. Well enough rambling.... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Full carbon GT F430
Great job! Could see that alot of time went into get the tiny bits of details done. Love the pe bonnet pins, seat flocking, braided wires, wires, rivets etc.. The contrast between dry and wet cf is quite a nice touch too!
But I thought the decal work could be improved with experience and right technique. I am terrible with cf, really! But with every build, I had learn to massage the right spots, and shrink the right places. The cavallino seems not to be able to stick with the cf well? The hobby design cf are probably simliar to the tuner manufactory cf that I used. From china/hongkong/taiwan. They are rather thick and stubborn, compared to sms cf, or even the stock cf decals from tamiya kits which are quite thin and easy to break. It does not really react to the softer solutions like microsol. However, thick decals do give a certain level of forgiveness in the event of unruly hands. Don't worry about cf placed in different directions/orientations, because in real life, certain applications are like that. =) By the way, where do you get the flocking for your race seats, looks very much in scale. Oh and lastly, did I read that you sued crazy modeler?? lol Cheers! |

Re: Full carbon GT F430
basically...u made the first version of the 430 gt2, at least in front and side parts. the rear exhaust area was different.
![]() nice model. not so easy to place carbon fiber on the car. real stuff on this shall be adhesive wrapped, cause according from what I know they never made it in full carbon body. wonderful model.

Re: Full carbon GT F430
The car looks great. That twill pattern is very close to what is used. the trick I use is always remember the direction of the decal sheet when cutting that way it keeps the pattern close. I know how long it takes again great job. did you try using a hairdryer to make the conform.

Re: Full carbon GT F430
I would cut along the panel line on the front bumper.
It might also be worth going over some spots with a bit more decal setting solution to get it really flat.

Re: Full carbon GT F430
In addition to this there were the low volume factory race cars, these where all derived from the 360 Modena and for the first time produced as a separate model in their own right (compared to being retro fit kit in previous incarnations). The first up was the 360 Modena Challenge, used in a one make series, the factory built racing cars where prepared by official tuner, Michelotto whom also did the 360 N-GT. The N-GT was a 360 Challenge car evolved even further to compete more seriously in the FIA N-GT racing classes alongsid

Re: Full carbon GT F430
That's a lot of CF work done! I share your pain as I am currently trying to full carbon Scuderia 430
![]() As it was mentioned, although on some places there are errors in the CF, in overall it looks amazing. I like the attention to the details you have and I must say that those Z4 rims suit it better than Z4 kit!
