Sienna Cracked Dashboard

I have a 2004 Sienna that I've owned for 2 years as a second owner. We now have a problem that we can't figure out what caused it and what happened. The dashboard has a 12" line crack on the passenger side. We asked the Toyota Dealer locally to see if they might know the cause but we didn't get a clear answer. Anybody have the same problem???????? or know what the cause is?////

Re: Sienna Cracked Dashboard

I have the same problem with my 2006 Toyota Sienna. I am original owner. Garage kept, Miami Florida, only 30,700 miles otherwise in excellent condition. The dash has two cracks next to the upper glove box door. Dealer said looks like a factory defect, Toyota said will pay half of the $2,000. repair bill.
I said that was not acceptable to me, dealer said that was the only option he could offer me. I called Toyota they said the same. If anybody has more information please post it. Or if you want to join forces with putting pressure on Toyota and going to the media I will be very interested in that as well.

Re: Sienna Cracked Dashboard

I have the same problem with my 2006 Sienna, hariline crack in dash on the outer edge above the gauges behind the upper portion of steearing wheel going from air vent on the left all the way around the gauge panel. I am the original owner. This appeared this year when the car had about 45000 miles. We always garaged the car and used sun shade when parked outside in summer. Dealer tried Toyota warranty coverage authorization people and also Toyota regional people and looked into the possibility of Toyota wanting the dash board back for field study. No luck. I then called Toyota customer care. They basically followed standard procedure, took the words, gave me a case number, verified with the dealer about the matter. Since the dealer contacted Toyota regional people already, the guy called me back and told me there was nothing else he/they could do. This is my forth Toyota. There goes my long held conviction of high Toyota quality.
