Re: The McLaren F1 virgin club

Hey!
Talking about MC12; I lost the virging from that yesturday!
Can't you all believe! Maserati MC12 in FINLAND!?!?!?! Never!!!!
Exept atleast yesturday it was, Not under Finish registery.

I visited Ferrari/Maserati import dealership yard when I was going to past it; and it took 2 seconds to reliaze what I saw in the line.

To me, this is defenitely same category than McLaren F1.
Super rare (only 50 made), super beatifull, and super exotic anywhere around the world.
Can't believe my luck!

Yep Thanks!
Well; there at UK is so much super rare stuff that it's no wonder if you see one someday.!

Today; I left home early on the morning and went back to Espoo a morning trafic jam.
After a hour waiting, they opened the office and opened the doors.
I had a chat with some of the Catamount's Mechanics and he told the car some informations. Without any inquiries; they opened the engine cover and allowed me to take some shots of the engine and cabin.

And the sound..... The starting sound and the idle. Oh my. Right after the engine was fired up; the sound was magical. So rough and so even.
This is super rare case defenitely!

I want to thank Catamount's employees to allow me take some cabin and engine shots. It was superb moment!

Greg; have you got my emails?!

Re: The McLaren F1 virgin club

Way to go Sami! I'd be rapt to see an MC12 in the flesh, such a beautiful car (better in my mind then the Enzo). So nice of them to start the car up for you!

I'm a McLaren F1 virgin, living Downunder there's not much chance to see an F1 in the flesh but Im hoping to one day-perhaps I shall have to make a detour when I go to Europe.

Come to New Zealand sometime! We've got one for every 2 million people!
That would be like there being 153 in the US alone
I expect the only country that could beat us is Brunei, with probably about 70 times their quota based on that.........

Smile Re: The McLaren F1 virgin club

First post for me on here.

I've been fortunate to see 6 on the road. These were 2 in and around the FOS, 1 at Silverstone, Andy74b's car at BMW HQ, and an orange car at Le Mans plus the car top gear tested. I was near my home town of Solihull when I saw the TG car and before I new it I realised I'd run 30 yards after it still not believing what I had seen and heard.

Have also seen 4 or 5 others at races and will post pics when I can.

Great site and I'm glued to it

I promise I will as you guys can help ID them for me.

Whats the etiquette? should I post on here or put on a flickr with a link so you can place them in the appropriate place?

Re: The McLaren F1 virgin club

The same for me...I met the F1 in the NFS 2, was amazing times

Years ago, there was no internet and the only way to see pictures of the F1 and another cars was in magazines. I collect a lot of cuts for years.

At the moment the only F1 I've seen has been the LM3

Re: The McLaren F1 virgin club

Welcome back to the forum.

Like yourself, I too am an infrequent visitor to the forum. However I am never ceased to be be amazed at the passion, knowledge and detail shared here.

My F1 'history' began around the time in the '90's when initial rumours on the car started to appear in Car and Autocar.

In 1997 I met and became acquainted with a wealthy Scottish collector of blue chip Ferraris and Jaguars (majoring in acquiring and racing XJ220s). I asked him a couple of times in passing when he was going to buy an F1. He never appeared to be that interested, until in mid 1998 he casually mentioned he had purchased a car the previous week in France. He invited me to join him at Knockhill a couple of Saturday's later and that was where I experienced a number of laps in #07R.
