If the light is on, there is a problem and a code will be set. The ABS codes can only be read and cleared with a ABS capable scanner.

If its a hub problem, just the ABS light would come on, there are other problems that could cause both to come on. Lets start with a code read, be sure whoever you take it to has the ability to read ABS codes.

yes, i had it read at auto zone with abs scanner and no code was present? a few days i was driving and the same lights came on and i stopped and turned car off and looked under hood shook battery terminal and car started up. I came home and changed the positive battery bolt because it seemed loose and tightened back down, everything was fine till today.Light still is on, the battery is approx 2 months old?

Like GMtech1 said, if the ABS light came on, a code must be set......sure they used a scan tool capable of reading ABS?

yes, i had another scan done today and it still shows nothing. Are the scanners at garages have more in depth knowledge than these cheaper scanners at auto zone etc.maybe that is the reason no code showing?

Re: 97 grand prix abs and brake light on!

Yes they are. The scanners at the local auto parts stores are not capable of reading the ABS codes, at leaset in my area. I have an ABS/Trac issue because the rear passanger side wheel speed sensor is bad. I had to take it to my mechanic to have the code read becasue the auto parts store scanner could not read ABS codes. You will need to take it to a mechanic that has an up to date scanner and some knowledge on how to use it.
