08 Grand Prix blowing ignition fuse #24
I was letting my car warm up, it died and wouldn't start back up. Found I wasn't getting any spark. Checked the power to the icm and there was none. Checked the ignition fuse and it was blown. Put a new fuse in and tried to start the engine and it just turns over, checked the fuse and it is blown again. Has anyone seen this before? There must be a short or a bad ground somewhere. Hoping someone has run into this and can point me in the right direction.

Re: 08 Grand Prix blowing ignition fuse #24
What I am seeing is the #24 fuse only powers the ICM. So there is a short either in the pink wire, ckt 239, between the fuse box and the ICM or the ICM is shorted. I would start with close inspection of the harness between the fuse box and the ICM.

Is there a way to test the icm to see if it is shorted, or do you just have to rule out ckt 239 and assume it's the icm?

Yeah, once you eliminate that ckt. , it pretty much comes down to the ICM. From the schematic I found, thats all that is on that fuse.

If it blows, as soon as you crank the engine, then disconnect the ICV, put new fuse in, and see if it blows while cranking....if it doesn't, It's the ICM....
