Veilside Toyota MRS
Hey guys, long time reader, not a member though unfortunately but now ive joined up and here is my first WIP!
This will be my 3rd time trying to get into modelling, yet this time ive gone the whole hog.....tools, paints etc! Anyway, the car.....I've ALWAYS loved these Veilside MRS's's's. So when i found the model kit it had to be bought! (Excuse the slightly rubbish photos, I've recently bought myself a 35mm prime lens and also a 40mm macro lens so will be getting some more shots with the macro to show the details up more etc )Heres a few pics of the box and contents: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Started by removing the mould lines, terribly difficult in the rear light area but with patience, it was achievable! The body itself is extremely fragile and weak in comparison to other kits i have but I'm putting that down to the fact its an open top car ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Started by fitting the bonnet vents. I will be using putty to smooth in these but i want to practise with the putty on some cheaper models that im using as test dummies for any mishaps etc ![]() ![]() Then i came to a slight hurdle, to fit the actual door pieces, the door needed to be glued in the exact location inside the body to line up the door shuts etc so i had to get myself some grips. Which funnily enough i got earlier this afternoon so i can crack on with this tonight ![]() ![]() I know its not a huge amount of progress, but i am getting back into the hobby as said and i don't want to mess anything up! More pics to come! P.S: If anyone has any ideas on colour I'm open to ideas, as long as its not yellow and way over the top. I don't want to go too subtle with the colour, as to me that spoils the fact it is a Veilside kitted motor! Tanks guys and LOVE the forum btw, SOOOO many tips and inspiration |

Re: Veilside Toyota MRS
Forgot to mention not green either lol!
To be honest I've seen a fantastic photo shoot of a yellow Veilside MRS and i must say, it does look very tasty! What about a nice candy red? I have some different wheels going on btw, soon as they come in the post, I'll pop some pictures up! And talking of pictures, i will take some more of the body now the doors have been glued in ![]() Day of painting tomorrow for this car and a few others i have going on. But this is the main car at the mo

Re: Veilside Toyota MRS
Those wheels used to be sold separate I believe. I forget what kit I stole mine out of tho. Built this back when I didn't know as much. But now, I's suggest drilling a hole in the base of the mirror, and into the body, and supergluing(carefully) a small bit of paperclip. Seen that tip a while back. But just go very very light on the glue. Good luck man! we're here to help.

Re: Veilside Toyota MRS
They wheels have been used by Veilside for a long time, most famously on the MR2 and S2000
![]() Candy red does sound good, but a nice, super bright yellow will do the trick as well. Especially if it has black/carbon accents

![]() If you or anyone finds out where i can get some please let me know ![]() Quote:
![]() I'm hoping to do something not OOB ie smoothing the bonnet vents, something subtle but effective on the rear bumper too. It wont have the spoiler on thats for sure and will be open top. I have ordered a 1mm drill bit from the bay of desire, as the smallest i have is 2mm so the mirrors will have to wait a few days ![]() Doors are on though so will get a few more pics tonight with my macro lens

Re: Veilside Toyota MRS
If it comes to making small holes you can always heat up a needle and melt your way through. Works realy well if you don't have a small drill.

Re: Veilside Toyota MRS
Fantastic idea!!
That would better than a drill i think, due to how fragile that MRS body is! |

Re: Veilside Toyota MRS
I belive theres a Fujimi or Aoshima RX7 that those wheels come with, But have seen them available seperately. Cant seem to find them on HLJ but theres plently of others out there.
Heres some other Veilside wheels which look pretty awesome too http://www.hlj.com/product/FUJ19302
