Ford Focus WRC 2002 Deutschland

Hi All,

Here is the Tamiya kit of the Ford Focus WRC from the 2002 Rally Deutschland. I decided on this livery of the two options in the kit, as I am quite a fan of Markko. Built out of the box apart from the addition of some seatbelts and Renaissance wheels that I believe are more correct for this rally. I know the headlights in this kit are not right, but I could not get my hands on the resin pieces to correct them. Overall, I quite like the combination of deep blue and bright white livery, and the tarmac stance really suits the Focus nicely. The kit was the usual Tamiya quality, and the decals quite good to work with.

Cheers,
Grant.

And with some other tarmac-spec Foci.

A great livery.

By the way:
To change the Tamiya kit to the 2002 Focus you'll not only have to change the headlights, but also the hood and the roofscoop are quite different.

But that's not meant to take anything away from your great build.

I like this model and you perfectly built it but I can only agree with Axel and add that you did a wrong wheels choice for this rally, Markko only used 5 spokes wheels.

Problem is that Tamiya kit is correct for the Corsica Duval's car, which was a 2001, but not anymore for Deutschland Markko's car where he used a 2002 version on which indeed you have to correct hood and roofscoop more noticeable than headlights.

Hi All,

Thanks for the positive feedback.

Phil, I had not realised about the wheels. I was going of the box art - which is of course Duval's car. Easy enough to change I guess.

Cheers,
Grant.

Well I think they look excellent - minor innaccuracies or not. Brings me happy memories of my days working at M-Sport.

Yes, from March '98 to Sept '00 when they were doing the Focus and running Colin and Carlos. My first job in motorsport and yes, it was brilliant, but very hard work. I even met my wife while working there!
