Re: MKI Scirocco build II

O.k. did a little more work today.

Glued the remaining velocity stacks. I know they are un-even. I'll fix that later. I also installed the scratch=built oil cap.
The white piece is the Ferrari Testarossa intake I used to the one on the rocco engine.

I'd planned on working on the header tonight but, like an idiot, I locked the garage keys, inside the garage...
My wife has the spares....
Please let me know what you think.

Re: MKI Scirocco build II

Thanks guys. It's getting there. I'll be kind of stalled on the engine for a while as my next step is to add a Metal Masters pully/belt kit and AN fittings and braided lines. (And I don't have the spare $$$ for that right now.) So I've been prepping the body for paint.
Yeah, I had abandon the flat green build a couple years ago but now that I see how expensive the Revell MKII kits have become, I'm going to start it back up.

Re: MKI Scirocco build II

O.K. Here's a little more progress. I got the door handles shaved and the recesses filled, shaved the rear emblems
and hatch release. I test sprayed it w/intermediate blue. Primarily as a primer and to look for imperfections in the body. But,
I also like the color so I wanted to see how it'd look. Trying to decide once all the body work is done if I'll re-spray it in
I-Blue again, and add a simi clear as it's a flat military color. ???

It looks more grey than blue in the photos but under direct light the blue shows through.

Let me know what you think gang. And you putty experts, I'm using Tamaya Putty, what can I due to get rid of the pin-holes,
bubbles once I sand it down? Also the door handles even though sanded down, are still showing. More sanding??? Or is there a
technique I'm missing?

Re: MKI Scirocco build II

Spent the last couple hours on the Chassis. Because of the engine, I couldn't do straight axle in the front and the wheels and tires are to wide to adapt what came w/the 30yr old kit. So, I kit-bashed a front suspension from a for focus kit.

The stance is close to where I want it. Once everything is tacked down it should sit a little lower.

I dropped the engine in real quick to see how it'll look.

I'm pretty happy as I was worried that it wouldn't fit under the hood and w/out scraping the oil pan but it'll just fit on both ends.

Re: MKI Scirocco build II

I know I've been away from this build for awhile but I can't beleave it's been almost two years. I've gone through build droughts before but never this long. It explains why I've been aching to build over the last 2-3 weeks.

"Time to get busy!"
