P1406 and P0108 codes..

My 96 LSS is throwing these codes. I have notices sometimes when I accelerate it will have a couple hiccups.
Can I clean the EGR valve with carb cleaner?
Whats the other code usually?

Re: P1406 and P0108 codes..

P1406 is a pintle position error.....meaning the feedback of the position sensor is not the commanded position(need a scan tool to verify)....

The other is the MAP voltage is too high....

How is the vehicle running?

Re: P1406 and P0108 codes..

The car is running decent. I have really only noticed some hesitations randomly during acceleration sometimes.
Today I cleaned the EGR with carb cleaner and the harness connections with elec cleaner.
I also sprayed the MAP with elec cleaner as well as cleaning the MAF with MAF cleaner.
I drove it around the block and drove fine but will have to drive a little more to make sure the prob is gone. I bought a new MAP just in case but have not put it on yet.

Any ideas?

No , that didn't fix it. Still hesitates occasionally when accelerating. I guess I will next try putting in the new MAP sensor and see if that does anything.

Put in the new MAP sensor and seems to drive better on a short test drive. Will find out tomorrow when I attempt a 60 mile commute

Did you clear the codes? Did any return?

Is the hesitation a misfire?

Re: P1406 and P0108 codes..

It also might be time for a new air filter, fuel filter, and upstream H20 sensors.

Ambient air->Air filter->MAP->ENG->H20 sensors->Exhaust

Re: P1406 and P0108 codes..

After I put the new MAP sensor on and after driving a while the light went off by itself and then later came back on. I got the codes checked at autozone and I think they cleared them.
I am not sure about a misfire. I can't hear any think come from the engine .... like a noise.
As I accelerate it will just do a hiccup in acceleration then go back to normal. Any way I can tell. I have replaced all my plugs and wires within 20k miles ago.
I will try to put on a new air filter and see if that helps. I changed the fuel filter 10K miles ago.
Where are the upstream H2O sensors?
