P0452

I spoke with some folks at a shop and I couldn't get a specific answer. I have a 2000 chevy s-10 and it threw po452. Gradually over a period of a week it got harder and harder to start. Finally it died. I was having a strong gas smell and was told that the evap control valve would be the culprit. Where is it exactly? I know the sensor is on top of the tank, and the regulating unit is back by the tank to. The only schematic that I can find shows the control valve somewhere near the throttle body. Can some one tell me more specifics? Thanks!

Re: P0452

Code 452 is for fuel tank pressure sensor problem.

But should not cause no start.

Any other codes?

Check fuel pressure and look for the gas smell.

What engine?

what can happen is fulling up the fuel tank too much and then parking in the heat of day fuel will go to the cannister. this then gets plugged up. the control valve also gets plugged up with charcoal from cannister. follow the vent lines and find the cannister. check that the line to tank is not blocked. blow thru cannister to see if its blocked.

make sure the cap is the correct one. sometimes these caps mess up and cause too much vacuum. tank pressure goes into the cannister to be absorbed. fuel vapors means that this needs checking and testing.

best have a diagram so that you can follow this correctly.
