99 Jeep Cherokee Limited, Starter issue??

My 1999 Jeep Cherokee Limited, 4.0 inline 6, is going through starters. My mom had one put on it about a year ago at a local shop while I was away, and it has already started grinding again. What could be causing it to go through starters like that?? I have checked the starter bolts and they are tight. Thanks
