Re: Is the 3800 V6 Worth it?
[quote=Mr. Luos;4165497]The LS1 is 10.1:1 compression.
If you don't run premium, your computer knows it and will pull timing to prevent knock. Like I said, the LS1 with a manual will get better mileage than the V6. It is more efficient. Of course, if you drive the hell out of it all the time it won't. Mine got 22.5 MPG around town with a cam in it. Best I got on the highway was 31 MPG. Pre-cam for that. I believe that would make it about 170-175 WHP. Low 15's most likely with perfect conditions. I have a 2001 Grand Am GT with the 3.4 in it. I know what they are lacking in power, trust me. [/QUOTEIf you get trans am or firebird with a V6, do NOT get the 3.4. Get the 3.8(3800). Worlds of difference in quality. 3.4 is junk in comparison. As for power.........I have a 2000 Ford Mustang. It's a decent car but with the stick it's a jerkier ride and the front tranny sincronizers go off . They keep making cars fast every year and better on gas. I've owned 4 Hyundai Elantras in the past. As they were a 4 door they were practical but also had a sporty headlights with cool mean face on it. They got 24/35 mpg with auto OR stick. That made no sense except that I didn't want to get stuck paying for a foreign tranny rebuild. But, the stick shift models got about 34mpg all in the city if you got a stick. I had 4 of them. Last month a bought my 5th Elantra and it's an automatic as I have the Mustang for a stick. The Elantra has changed SO MUCH this year. It's more like a sports car instead of a family car. It has a D-VVT engine with a timing chain instead of belt. Oil changes only 7500 per owner's manual. No belt to change. No power steering as it's computer controlled and awesome. But, the best of all, its a 6 SPEED automatic and I east camaros, mustangs, and foreign cars all day. It's super fast. So, if you want a sportier car thats also convenient, get a 2001-2010 with a 2.0L 4 cylinder and it'll smoke tires in first 4 gears, yet averages 34mpg highway with a manual! If you can afford a new one, it's a smaller 1.8L yet with even more horsepower and 6 speed manual or automatic. Just beware on the Mustang it takes quite a bit of time to change gears. Sad to say though, my 4 cyl Hyundai Elantra automatic will SMOKE my manual shift Mustang! Thing broader......... |

No, I was commenting on a 2 hour post, not a 6 year old one......feel free to post on anything, no matter how many years old.......you just make it harder for people to check posts, that are supposedly new....

Re: Is the 3800 V6 Worth it?
Umm....... no you commented on a 6 year old post. These are your exact words. "Dude, you are commenting on a 6 year old post....."
Now, your next statement...... No, I was commenting on a 2 hour post, not a 6 year old one......feel free to post on anything, no matter how many years old.......you just make it harder for people to check posts, that are supposedly new.... That is exactly what I was doing. What's the point of having a thread if you don't want people to talk about it. It's a good subject, so keep it going. Maybe i'll spark it up again. And, if I make it harder for people to check posts that are supposedly new, then well this site needs to get rid of older threads and make it impossible to reply to old posts. If you did that, then there would be thousands of duplicate threads which still there is anyways. People get mad when you start a thread that exists but then people like you get mad when someone comments on an old post. It got your attention so maybe its working. Isn't that the point? Sorry but before I start a thread I at least read others that contain search words on them and if I come across an interesting thread, I felt the desire to post my opinion on it. |
