VW Golf MK2 GTI

Started new kit. It's the Revell Golf MK2 GTI, reissue of the 80's kit. Gonna build it OOB, only with new rims.

Then primered the body and bumpers:

Painted in TS-8 Italian Red:

And started the interior. Need do to a matt finish:

Lookin' really good, brother had one of these in the same colour so I'm dead excited on seeing this! What wheels are you going for?

Re: VW Golf MK2 GTI

Thanks

About the wheels, I'm not sure yet. I want to make the original GTI wheels in the kit more realistic, but I've ordered these rims:

Oh I think those wheels would be much more fitting.

Looks a little grainy. The interior is sweet though. Still need to get my hands on one of these before they get rare again.

Re: VW Golf MK2 GTI

So, here's a big update.

I've repainted the body three times; the first time I messed up with the black parts, the second time the clear coat reacted to the paint.

Now I'm waiting for my rims, they arrived today but nobody was home so they were deliverd at the house of a friend of mine.

What did I do in time? I finished the body almost. Only need to add the mirrors and the rear license plate and I have to do the engine bay.

Re: VW Golf MK2 GTI

Thanks guys.

I got my rims, so I made a dryfit. I will paint the centers in gold and lower the car.

Re: VW Golf MK2 GTI

Should look good with gold centers. You should put the mirrors and license plate on last as they are delicate and you risk breaking them off during handeling or assembly IMO. Looking forward to seeing it done.

Re: VW Golf MK2 GTI

I like your model, but would spend more time and polish the car body.
