Re: 2000 windstar 3.8 L.

I had a '96 that did that.....I would be driving along on a trip...stop at a rest area to.....and then get back in my vehicle and start it up.....it would run rough for about 30 seconds or so...and then settle down.
I never did understand it....but I bought the vehicle in '99 with just under 39K miles on it and sold it 10+ years later with over 229K miles on it...and it never seemed to be an issue long term.
It never caused the Check Engine Light (CEL) to come on.

Welcome to the forum.....Please take time to read the "sticky" posts at the top to help you stay on top of problems BEFORE they happen.
My main advice is to stay on top of routine maintenance items as that will nip a lot of issues in the bud.

Re: 2000 windstar 3.8 L.

By "Rough running" do you mean it has problem maintaining idle speed?

I regularly clean the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve on my '00 Windstar - and it's the first thing I'd check for any strange Windstar running problem (mostly because it's so common - and so easy to deal with).

It only take a few minutes to clean your IAC:

Thanks, I was looking for something to do

My '00 rarely stalls outright but sure idles rough when cold. Doing this can't hurt.
