98 lesabre cast aluminum nipple broke removing from water pump bore.
Towards the end of my UIM and LIM replacement on 98 buick lesabre......filled up the vehicle with coolant....started noticing leak of coolant...could not tell where it was coming from......took alternator back off and took the tensioner assembly off...notice that the cast aluminum nipple broke while removing it from the water pump bore. Apparently it broke when taking it off the first time because I never paid attention to that piece.
Now a little bit of the aluminum is broken off in the water pump bore and I am trying to figure out how to extract it so that all I have to do is buy a new tensioner assembly. Pictures coming and thoughts are welcome..... Sam in Cary, NC |

Re: 98 lesabre cast aluminum nipple broke removing from water pump bore.
I took these pictures today. Fortunately I was able to purchase a new tensioner assembly for my 1998 Buick Lesabre Custom and I was able to remove the broken off nipple from inside the bore.
Thanks, Sam in Cary,NC |
