Hates to make a repost, but here it is:
I am having another problem with the custom project, this time the decals is the main concern. As i am now trying to cut open the model, a new set of decals for the 1996 FINA #38 short tail is needed. Sadly, that's no where to be found. So i'm thinking of using these: https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=d64f9...C%219813&sff=1, which are the decals of the Longtail GTR FINA 1997 + a set of British flag. Would that work? I mean were there major differences (in terms of size and shape) between the long tail FINAs and the short tails of 1996?

Your link isn't working for me but knowing the designs of the 1996 and 1997 liveries were really quite different. Perhaps you could use decals from one for the other but I can't guarantee it. The French flag woudn't be too difficult to mask and paint on the car - the British one a fairly small challenge.

Here are the decals i am planning to use:

Of course these will be of higher resolution when i actually use them. One important thing to note - was the Union Jack sketched? I know that's the case for the French flag but was the Brits' flag also crooked?
The lettering of drivers' names can be custom made- i'm quite sure and can order them. The problem is whether or not the red and white stripe of the 1997 long tail will eventually fit the short tail?

Found some old but interesting "new to me" photos of the 13R/14R LARKs as they were in 1996 from a Japanese web site and thought to share, enjoy!

There seems to be plenty of detailed photos of the RH footwell area of 1996 GTR's but I know the 1995 cars did not have the footwell fully filled in like the 96 cars. Has anyone got any nce detailed pics of this area of a 95 GTR?
