My 07 Hyundai Elantra car alarm is going off indiscriminately today...
It went off a few hours ago, then twice in the last 2 hours. No one's been near the car - very windy and cold but no other outer circumstances I can think of that would affect it. The last time it went off, I opened up the car, turned it on, drove a bit, turned it off.....anything to get the car active.
![]() Is this a problem within the keyless remote (low battery? malfunction?), or the car itself? And since a dealership is not open on a Sunday, is there a way to easily bypass this error until I can get to a dealer? Thanks. |

I am having the same problem. It started on 3/23/10. Did you ever figure out what it was or how to fix it? Cause it is truly aggravating!!

Re: My 07 Hyundai Elantra car alarm is going off indiscriminately today...
As a suggestion, visit your local Hyundia dealer / Parts Dept and ask for thicker rubber hood spacer. I remember reading the factory round contact item is too thin. Thus, it doesn't fully compress the switch - which means someone lifted its front hood. There's a TSB (Tech Service Bulletin) recommending the install of a thicker 1" round contact rubber. Thus, ensuring the front hood security alarm switch remains compressed. Think this rubber replacement sells for $2.95 to $5.95.
Update: Rubber upgrade at http://pages.suddenlink.net/daydream...EPLACEMENT.pdf Hope this helps... Last edited by spike88; 03-01-2012 at 08:51 AM. |
