97 grand prix gtp supercharger
I have a 97 grand prix gtp sc. 2 wks ago I got a p0141 code. I know it's the bank 1 sensor 2 after the cat. It went away last weekend. Then on Thursday, it stalled on the road and starts right away, but won't stay running. Had it towed home. Cleaned the maf sensor and replaced the fuel filter. The fuel pump sounds fine. Checked the fp relay and fp spd cntrl relay, both seem fine. Does anyone have any idea on what the problem may be? I do have headers with straight pipes and i do have a modified k&n cold air intake. It does start smoother and it idles smoother, but after 10 seconds, it stalls. I started it with the maf engaged and the maf not engaged, there wasn't any difference. help me pls.

Re: 97 grand prix gtp supercharger
Well, spray carb cleaner into the intake and see if it continues to run as long as you spray.....if it does you have a fuel delivery problem......
What a lot of people don't know is, there is a ceramic resistor in the circuit to the fuel pump......don't remember if it was a recall or TSB.......but if that resistor has never been replaced, that could be your problem...it could be cracked.....it is located in the front passenger side wheel well......the tsb/recall relocates a new one to the engine firewall on the passenger side.....if it was a recall, it has run out on time by now.......... There is a brace on the passenger side inthe engine compartment, and a wire loom is attached to it.....that loom goes down into the wheelwell to the resistor..... |

Re: 97 grand prix gtp supercharger
Welcome to AF!!
I agree with Tech II about the fuel pump resistor. If they go bad they can leave you sitting beside the road. These resistors are hard to get to but they are not hard to change once you find them. |

Thanks for the reply. We are getting the resistor today, so I will let you know how it goes.

Re: 97 grand prix gtp supercharger
We replaced the FP Resistor (had to order it from the dealer) and the fuel filter. Now I'm getting codes P0171, P0102 and P0306. It seemed fine when we first started it, but when I revved it, the SES came on and these codes came up. Replaced the MAF sensor and now it sounds like it's not getting enough fuel when idling. Replaced the FP Relay and FP Spd Cntrl Relay. Started it this morning to warm up, when I got in to leave, SES light flashing. Shut it off, waited 5 minutes, started it back up, smoothed out a little, drove 25 miles to work. Seemed fine until I stopped at a light, idling rough. Any ideas on where I go from here? SES not flashing, but still on. It just seems like it's starving for something, and there are so many possibilities that I have no idea on where to even start.

Re: 97 grand prix gtp supercharger
When the CE light flashes, that's a bad misfire.....what did you do about P0306?
Also check for vacuum leaks, check the vac hose to the f/p regulator for fuel and see if the car runs better with the MAF disconnected..... |
