1979 Lincoln Mark V Fuel Pump Location

My dad has a 79 Lincoln Mark V that he is trying to get running again. He says it does not appear to be pumping fuel. Can anyone tell me where the fuel pump is located?

thanks

Re: 1979 Lincoln Mark V Fuel Pump Location

It's a mechanical pump bolted to the side of the engine near the front. I think its on the driver's side, but can't quite remember. Just follow the fuel line from the carburetor down the front of the engine. It leads directly to the pump.

FWIW if the car's been sitting a long time, you might have another problem interrupting fuel flow:

possibly a rusted-out fuel line
a blocked fuel tank pick-up.
Also the fuel filter (which is screwed into the aide of the carb) may be blocked.
Finally, the carb float and/or needle-and-seat may be stuck in the "up" or closed position.
