Premium vs. regular?

I am a new owner of a 1994 J30 with 86K miles. I love the car! Any thoughts on whether it is necessary to use premium gasoline? With a 20+ cent price differential I would not mind saving the $ but not if it will adversely affect the engine.

Re: Premium vs. regular?

My 93 J30t is finiky as hell. I tried regular and it did not like it at all. Kinda sputtered when I accelerated. Went back to premium and have not tried that again!

Re: Premium vs. regular?

if you wanna kill your noc sensor then go on ahead and use regular. noc sensor requires an engine pull just to replace. id use premium no matter what.

Re: Premium vs. regular?

as long as you use the minimum octane rating specified by the manufacturer you should be fine.

Re: Premium vs. regular?

You have to use the premium if it says premium. This is to protect sensors in the engine and catalytic converters. Those components specially catalytic will hurt your wallet if it fails.
