Re: REVELL 2012 News

It would be a good time for Fujimi to do an FF...I doubt Revell would have a chance to do it in the next 18-24 months, what with all the other Ferrari and other stuff that is in the pipeline. It would be a lot smarter than something overlapping, like the Enzo or the SLS. And since Revell hasn't announced a 458 Spider yet, they could do that as well (but please don't cheap out on the interior molds).

Re: REVELL 2012 News

Definitely SLS and 458 droptops. I could also see Tamiya doing an DBS Volante. Or nothing at all...

The roadster all I heard behind me was the great sound of the exhaust; couple that w/the buttery-smooth, almost rheostat-type power delivery, and it was a drive I won't forget.
M Coupes have different rear shock set-up and differential, thus resulting in slightly more noise. There is absolutely no insulation between the trunk floor and interior. And having a metal roof kinda amplifies that vs. roadster. But I love it exactly for that - raw, beastly nature. There is nothing buttery-smooth about an M Coupe, and that is why I like it!

If I owned an M Coupe, I'd probably line the floor w/Dynamat and install a really good custom exhaust so I could hear the good sounds vs. being drowned out from the ambient sounds There was absolutely nothing wrong w/how it drove, but I also had just stepped out of a 540i Sport wagon, which to me seemed like nearly the perfect "all-in-one" car. Basically a velvet hammer.

Re: REVELL 2012 News

I think we can safely say that someone will do an FF. Just focus on the unfinished stack of cars we have sitting in storage until then. Revell even did a model of the pedestrian (looking) 612.

The 250 Ferrari would be nice and the Mk1 mini is a welcome change

Re: REVELL 2012 News

I would guess the FF will be done in 1/24th diecast first. Funny thing is the diecast might be more detailed!! Thats the way it has been lately.

Re: REVELL 2012 News

hmm, re-iisue of the Italeri SWB?
Guess that means we'll be seeing guys off-load their stash before the kits get released then...

Wonder what the hopes are for the full range of 275 kits coming soon after?

Not me! My pair of Italeri SWB's cost me only about $45, which is probably about what one will cost in the new box. I guess I could try to offload for more $$, but what if something happened and the new kit didn't get issued? I'd rather keep what I've got, which is a sure thing, and relatively inexpensive

Would be nice to see more 275's as well; I have Berlinetta and NART Spyder, but I'd certainly welcome a second Berlinetta to build as a racer.

Ever since seeing a complete(?) set of variants, at a show, I had an itch to have a short nose/long nose, 4/2 cam versions to match.
They're only ever so slightly different externally but it's the small differences that I like about the old Ferrari. I suppose it's part of my vintage geek syndrome...

Re: REVELL 2012 News

I guess it depends on how these "classic" releases sell. As always, there's been a vocal minority clamouring for the reissue of some of those older Italeri/?Protar? Ferraris - I sent them an email about the 250 California Spider and 275 NART only a year or so ago, for example - but to make it worth Revell's while, they have to sell not just to enthusiasts like us, but to average modellers in the local model and toy shops that are Revell's main distribution channel. You gotta hope that people have taste, but how many people today even know what a Ferrari 250 SWB Berlinetta or 275 NART actually ARE, let alone have seen one in the flesh? At least the R8 Spider is in Iron Man, and the 599 GTO is on Top Gear and in Evo...

So, you know what this means? It is our DUTY, for the good of our hobby and our hobby's future, to go forth and fill our stashes with Revell classic Ferraris, and eventually they'll re-release the whole range!

It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it, and that someone is us...

bestest,
M.

Re: REVELL 2012 News

I have to agree with Matt's point. Only a few of us care about the older Ferraris. Today, its all muscle and sports cars.

Personally, I'd rather see a company create new tooling for the California and 275 kits, like Fujimi did with the 250 GTO, since the Italeri kits fail to capture the true look of the cars. For that reason, I unloaded my Italeri kits and bought Renaissance kits, which capture the look better. I was going to kit bash them, but don't have the time or inclination to do that anymore.

Re: REVELL 2012 News

599 GTo is great news, as i also wanted to get the HD kit but couldn't see myself spending that much money on resin that is aweful and shrinks. The new dtm audis and benz are also good news.

But best of all for me is the swb as i have an older issue with some pieces missing, now i will be able to cast them and have a full kit. Wooohooo.

Keep it up Revell.

Re: REVELL 2012 News

some italeri kits have great proportions.Look at the 250 gto.before the fujimi kits,it was the best quality/price kit around. No comparison with protar/revell reissued kit.

Build some of theme, just need to improve the wheels and they remain great kits.almost all.
