test coil in 90 tracker

the other day my 90 tracker just died on me, no missing no sign of anything it just shut off, it didnt have much oil in it but it is still turning over just no fire, at first i thought it might be the fuel pump but i can hear it kicking on so i went to the spark plug, i took the plug out and put it aginst the motor to see if i get spark, there was no spark, i just put a new distributor cap and rotor button on it about a month ago so i think it is the coil but i dont know how to test it and find out
