Vehicle Logbook suggestions

Fellas,

I am finally getting organized enough to prep my GTWC for track duty. Thanks to Mike Attaway for his verbal history.

I have to start a logbook. I have searched this site, the SCCA site, and Summit Racing for an example or something commerically available. No joy on any of those searches. I find it hard to believe that a college-ruled, spiral-bound tablet will suffice.

I can develop an Excel format to record all of my maintenance as well a tuning changes and keep a loose-leaf, three ring binder. That doesn't have any provisions for losing pages or accounting for a missing page, though.

Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

I use a simple excel spread I developed. Fill it in after each maintenance/dyno/track session etc and use it to track major component hours etc.

Happy to share if you want to use it.

Kel.

Re: Vehicle Logbook suggestions

if you shoot me your email I can send you the Panoz log book document, lists all the maintenance checks and schedules. My car came with a Panoz log book so I just keep adding to that

Are you looking for a racing log book for the car or a maintenance record? Most series (SCCA, NASA) have their own unique books that require car and transponder numbers as well as pictures. Panoz used to include a SCCA usable book with the car and you can order a blank one from them. It holds your tech details and race events. If you wreck big the steward will also write a page to DQ your car until repaired and re-teched etc. If you are protested etc. it is written in the log book. Not much use except for race administration stuff.

So maybe check with your planned series and use the book they want. I have several for the GTS depending on what we run in.

Re: Vehicle Logbook suggestions

I am looking for a maintenance record.

I have the SCCA book and NASA books from when Mike Attaway was racing the car. The SCCA book is barely legible, though and not very professional WRT the entries in my opinion (apparently SCCA officials and MDs both go to the same school of penmanship).

Re: Vehicle Logbook suggestions

Panoz maintenance and parts manuals etc. I think have what you are looking for. Search the forum for the Panoz maintenance or users manual and I think they are also posted to the Panoz registry.

Re: Vehicle Logbook suggestions

Eric,

E-mail sent. Many Thanks in advance.

*BREAK*

All,

I built the attachment in excel. I will maintain a three-ring binder of these sheets to track the maintenance that I complete.

Constructive critiques and suggestions requested.
